Theme 2 : People life (Monochrome)

            Documenting People life photographically, is considered the ultimate message of the photography, which made it one of the greatest inventions of the world .. Which helped in spreading the cultures of the world’s societies globally .. Distances and brought to us we did not dream of.

  The pictures of this theme speaks about everything in the lives of people wherever they are in the world, through the exercise of their profession, and in the street, at home or anywhere, and should not be limited to photography to show the face of one of them only, it is not enough to tell us the details of the moment in their daily lives . It must include as much detail as  possible or capturing the beautiful moments in which they live.

The Photos submitted in this theme must be in Black & white (Grey-scale).

 FIAP definition of Black and White:

A black and white work fitting from very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work containing various shades of grey. A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage. On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category; such a work requires colour reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage.

General Competition rules:

1-    The competition is open for professional and amateur photographers , Omanis and non-Omanis living in the sultanate

2-    The submitted photos must be taken by the photographer him self.

3-    Photos must be submitted printed in a size (8 inches -20cm- for the shortest side , 16 inches -40cm-for the longest side)

4-    The participant’s name, address and phone number should be written on the back of the photos.

5-    Photos taken with a digital camera and processed digitally will be accepted as long as they don’t go out from its photographic characteristic. Photos taken by phones will not be accepted.

6-    Participant can submit up to 4 photos in each theme.

7-    The participant should fill the competition form and enclose a copy of personal ID , personal photo and a CD containing the photos in high resolution.

8-    A neutral judging committee will be formed to filter the photos and disqualify the photos that do not comply with the rules. The committee’s decision is final.

9-    The Omani Society of Fine Art holds the copyrights for the winning photos, and the non-winning can be claimed back after the exhibition on February 2012, and no claims will be accepted afterwards.

10-                       The results will be announced at the opening of the exhibition.

11-                       The photos (as per the specified size) should be submitted to the Omani Photo Club in Azaiba , or the branches of the Omani Society of Fine Art in Dhofar Governance & Buraimi Governance. Submission deadline is Wednesday 30th November 2011, and no submissions will be accepted after this date.

Second Prize : 600 OMR

Third Prize : 500 OMR

Two Honorable Mention prizes 100 OMR each

2nd Theme : People’s Life (Monochrome)

First Prize : 700 OMR

Second Prize : 600 OMR

Third Prize : 500 OMR

Two Honorable Mention prizes 100 OMR each
