WWF copycunts

This is just too fucking much. If the identical concept and execution weren’t enough to convince everyone with half a fucking brain and one functioning eyeball that the Ogilvy campaign is a total steal, the near-identical line should. Plus the fact that Chris and Alexis’ had been online for some time before the Ogilvy one came out.
But – those thieving fuckers are still protesting their innocence. Here’s my favourite line from Ogilvy’s official statement (made in a letter from their lawyer to one representing Chris & Alexis):
“Our work is indeed based on the same idea as the one of your client. But you will agree, above all, that it is not very original to use animals in their environment to talk over the disappearance of animals.”
In other words: “The idea’s shit anyway so even if we did steal it, the fact that you even care means all your ideas must be shit, so just, like, shut up yeah?”
Absolute bag of dicks. Just fucking own up to it, have some balls, relish your utter, abject ad-man cuntishness. Don’t send a statement through a lawyer. Write it on a just-emptied coke wrap, invite the boys in for a book crit and then staple it to their foreheads while they wait in reception as you saunter past on your way to the whorehouse.
But then I suppose that would require some imagination, wouldn’t it? Cunts”.

I came across the above story on the blog copycunts  which has a plethora of copycat examples, what I also noticed is that a lot of copycat ads, spoof ads and ghost ads are synonymous with the WWF!!!!!! almost like creativity is an endangered specie. CANNES LIONS 2012 REVERTS TO ORIGINAL DATES: 17-23 JUNE

30 August 2011 – The dates for the 2012 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity will revert back to the usual third week in June next year after the decision by the city of Cannes to postpone until further notice the refurbishment to the Palais des Festivals.

Earlier this year, the organisers of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity had agreed to move the dates of the 2012 event two weeks earlier than usual to allow for improvements to be made to the Palais des Festivals. Having just been informed by the city of Cannes that for various internal and external reasons the proposed upgrade works of the Palais des Festivals have now been postponed, to avoid a crossover with the end of the Cannes Film Festival, Cannes Lions will revert back to the usual dates in the third week of June: 17-23 June 2012.

“We apologise to those who may have already made plans around the earlier dates, but after consulting with many people in the industry, there was an overwhelming view that our delegates would prefer to revert to the traditional Cannes Lions dates,” says Philip Thomas, Cannes Lions CEO. “A time slot that has been in peoples’ diaries for the best part of 60 years,” he continues.

Who swallowed the logo? then throw-it-up!!!

We are going to use this most recent example from Kuwait to learn what not to do in any ad specially an outdoor ad:

1- According to the VIPS formula (Visibility, Identity, Promise, Singleminded) this ad is missing the “I” for identity, who is sending this message?!!!!!!!

2- According to the AIDA formula which was later on improved to AIDCA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction, Action) the “A” for Action is missing. What action should the recipient of this message take after going through all the stages of AIDCA?!!!!!!

3- The very nature of OOH (Out Of Home) does not lend itself well for long copy as the drivers barely have time to register your message in less than 6 seconds

4- It is a cardinal sin to omit the identity of the “Sender” in the communication process according to Shannon & Weaver communication model.
