Exhibition information :

 

Thuraya Al-Baqsami is a prominent Kuwaiti artist & writer, who has been active in Kuwait’s art scene from as early as 1969. This exhibition spans 41 years of her work, and is one of the first of its kind ever to be held in Kuwait. The exhibition contains early works from her student years spent in Cairo, Moscow, and Africa, many of which have never been exhibited or seen in public before. In one of the halls you can view her distinct painting & printing styles from the 1980s & 1990s, and there will be a special section on her work from the Iraqi invasion in 1990-91. In the other hall, her recent work from the last ten years will be on display, where her latest  developments in technique & style can be appreciated. The exhibition contains more than 200 works in total, which is her biggest exhibition to date.
Also, a book of her works entitled : “Thuraya Al-Baqsami : A Retrospective 1970 – 2011” will be available at the exhibition.
