Old Fart

They stole 14 different creations, used them as their own without crediting the originals or even mentioning them and profited from doing so.

The work was done for profit to promote the launching of the TV station owned by the owner of multiple advertising agencies and TV production companies; he goes by the name Tarek Nour who openly admitted to copying 14 promos (so far) and is considered a creative legend in Egypt.

This only goes to show the true status of creativity in the Middle East. copy past. copy anything from anywhere and past it anywhere but most importantly never forget to enter such work in creativity awards as bragging rights are as important as getting a raise, or getting new clients and undeserved respect from people whom you take for granted and deem ignorant!!!

I hope we do not see this work on next year short-list at the Dubai Lynx. The following are some examples of the original content which Egyptian Advertising industry Top Dog Tarek Nour copied  the ideas from and used them as promos to launch his TV station during the month of Ramadan!!! This guy will stop at nothing.

Amazing!!!! That’s the copycat case of the year… that’s hard news regarding egyptian creatives. I hope they’ll prove the world that they can do better than this.

The problem is not the lack of talent the true problem is the lack of ethics in the industry. those talented Egyptians were deprived to work on an exiting project, lost the opportunity to get exposer for their talent, lost income and all of this because an old fart who has been stealing ideas since he entered the business has been able to grow his business on the account of talented people and getting away with it prior to the internet age. there are so many talentless people out there holding top positions in top agencies due to copy-cat work while there are truly talented people searching for jobs.

What message are we sending out? That it is perfectly acceptable to plagiaries and infringe on others intellectual rights, compete unethically and profit from doing so but it is not permitted to point out the truth for fear of being prosecuted!!!!!!! Mr. Tarek N. should be ashamed from himself 1- for plagiarizing and profiting for so long from doing so. 2- for trying to mislead the public opinion that it was a spot-the-difference competition when the truth came out. 3- for taking legal actions against a 22 year old. Most importantly WE should all be ashamed of our selves for not taking any actions to prevent this from happening now or ever again. http://bloganubis.com/2009/08/22/old-fart/

ANUBIS was a very old god of the ancient Egyptians, universally worshipped throughout the land and became considered the gatekeeper and ruler of the underworld; the “Guardian of the veil“ he was “Lord of the Cleansing Room” and the opener of the roads of the North. “He observed the weighing of the deceased’s heart against the feather of Maat [Truth] and reported his findings to the jury of the gods.
